JOIN US IN PRAYING

JOIN US IN PRAYING ‘Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will Be Done’ in Ormskirk and district’s Churches, Towns and Villages and Edge Hill University.

Since January 2024, we have met to pray Monday to Friday 8am to 9am in New Church House, to the left of Ormskirk Parish Church front path. Pop in for just a few minutes or stay a while, no one is ‘late’ or stays ‘too short a time’ at Ormskirk Prayer Anchorhold and you can pray silently if you prefer to. We pray for God’s thriving and His immeasurably more (Ephesians 3:20) for everyone living around Ormskirk and district and for everything going on. 

It’s a relaxed and varied hour with shared prayers, spontaneous prayers, creative reflection on Bible verses etc and silences. We focus on different aspects of life in Ormskirk each weekday, eg market, businesses and Town Council etc on Thursday, Friday it’s local NHS and health care. (Info: Simon Andrews on 07752 637823.)

New Chairs

As you may know a few years ago we replaced about half of the old bench pews in the chapel for some more comfortable chairs. The safety aspect has been highlighted over recent months by a number of trips and falls over the protruding leg supports on the ends of the benches. This raises concern of potentially more serious accidents within the chapel. It is now time for us to replace the remainder.

We have had confirmation from the Diocese that we can remove the bench pews from the chapel to replace them with English oak bespoke chairs upholstered to match the existing chairs. This will make the chapel a much more comfortable, flexible place and, probably more importantly, also a much safer place.

However, this does come at a cost of over £30,000 – in excess of £800 for each chair. Although we do expect the chairs to last at least 100 years! 

We would very much appreciate any donations towards the cost of the chairs, as little or as much as you wish. If you are a tax payer the chapel would also be able to claim gift aid on donations. Up to the end of August 2026 we have already raised over £14,000 towards the costs; having recently received a legacy, some very generous donations and we are also using the proceeds of our 2026 fundraising towards the costs. DON`T FORGET Used postage stamps can be put in the box at the back of the Chapel in support of the R.N.I.B. Used computer ink cartridges can be left in the box at the back of the Chapel for Chapel funds.
